Recipe: Paneer Appe (Veg High Protein Low Carb)

(A healthy twist to the traditional pancake from Kerala)

Paneer Appe is a high protein, low carb, recipe: Only 309 calories with 24 gms of protein!!!

Easy to make, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

It can be served as a snack or can be paired with salad to be served as a nutritious complete meal.

It’s simple! It’s delicious! Great for kids as well!

MACROS:

  • CARBOHYDRATES: 15 GMS.

  • PROTEIN: 24 GMS.

  • FAT: 17 GMS.

Makes: 10 appams

Ingredients :-

  • 100 gms Paneer made with cow’s milk (can use store bought paneer but that will increase the calories of the dish)
  • 1 tsp / 10 gms Semolina (Rava)
  • 1 tsp / 10 gms Curd
  • ½ cup Mixed Veggies (I used Broccoli, Cabbage, Red & Green Bell Peppers, Methi)
  • ¼ tsp Green Chilli Paste
  • ¼ tsp Chat Masala
  • ¼ tsp Amchur Powder
  • ½ tsp Jeera Powder
  • 1 tsp Ghee to Cook Appe
  • Salt as Required

Method :-

  • To prepare the paneer appe, mix all the ingredients except ghee.
  • Roll the mixture into small balls.
  • Add ghee to the paniyaram pan.
  • Place the appe balls in the pan and let them cook.
  • Flip them once the edges start to turn golden brown and let them cook on the other side for a minute or so.
  • Your high protein, low carb paneer appe is ready to be served.
  • Relish it!!!

Tip: After rolling the appe balls, refrigerate them if you would like to cook them later.
